Wow! You couldn’t have approached this in a different way. Maybe a pm or phone meeting! How sad! I am actually happy that I found this out before the beginning of summer. Our corp. systems upgrade is coming up in June (237 workstations). They are getting a configuration change from the initial layout. I had just sent this to our IT manager and received approval to remove the Creative cards and go with an on-board solution. We are still going to be XP workstation based however if we upgrade in the future we are scared of the stability issues we are hearing about. What are you guys thinking? If you wanted this to stay private due to licensing issues why would you pursue it in public? Nothing like making everyone in the world know how bad the drivers are, how bad support is, and where to get the software you are trying to stop from being distributed. We are officially done using Creative products. BTW I used bugmenot.com also because I don’t think you’re worth my time to actually sign up.

Daniel's driver set made it possible to "hang in there" with an Audigy 2ZS, while Creative sat around on their thumbs with drivers that hadn't been updated for a year, were the actual beta release from the Vista beta test, and blocked the Vista SP1 install. Still, while daniel picked up the slack, one could nourish some delusional hope that Creative would get drivers right, someday. Maybe by contracting the job out to the one guy who seemed to be able to cobble together something working. Clearly, not so. I, too, have been a long-time Creative user, with SoundBlaster 16, Live!24, Audigy, and then Audigy2. You, Creative, are done with me, so I am done with you. I am taking this personally. By insisting on the letter of the law, and removing the balm that soothed the irritation over your piss-poor driver support, you add insult to injury. May you and your IP have a happy, if lonely, ever-after.

Yet another person who will NEVER buy a creative product again, based on this. You guys need to do the right thing here, but I doubt that is ever going to happen. You're going to end up on some industry rag's list of "Top 10 Customer Relations" blunders... bugmenot, 'cause you're all not worth the time and effort to sign up....

After finding only outdated and seemingly broken Vista drivers that are over a year out of date. The drivers that Daniel_K posted were the only ones that kept me using a Creative product. It will be my last Creative purchase. Creative used to be a industry leader who seemed to be a company I could be proud of. But for the past few years your customer support has been horrible. I almost bought a Turtle Beach card when I couldn't find any updated Vista drivers... but Daniel_K saved you a customer. Now you've taken it upon yourselves to lose so many more. Way to go Creative. As a long time Creative customer I plan on buying a non-Creative card for the first time since the original Sound Blaster. I was also a long time purchaser of your MP3 player line. I owned the Creative Nomad Jukebox, Creative Zen and then the Zen Xtra. Following the last Xtra I purchased an iPod to get video playback. I was ready to pick up a new video MP3 player from you guys, but you've now lost that sale as well. You've now lost two sales and given your competition more money. But at least you've stopped what remained of your customers from enjoying our products. Well done Creative.

I was planning on picking up a Creative sound card, but now seeing how creative treats it's customers (Ripping off all of it's customers and Alienating it's ENTIRE consumer base), I will instead boycott your products and explain this situations to all of my friends. The money you saved on not having a software engineer team should've been spent on a PR team. Thank you for all you've done for this community Daniel_K.

I have been a creative product user of old, using their mp3 players, headphones, soundcards, and speakers on and off for more than a decade, but their staunch anti freedom and pro MS monopoly policies have meant that the last two mp3 player that I have bought have not been creative, and I don't intend to ever by any of their products again.
They seem to have nothing but antipathy for any non MS users and have previously pledged never to support other platforms as a 'company policy'. Not only do they offer no support themselves but do their best to ensure anyone else can write compatible software for their products either - you won't find any creative devices with rockbox support for this reason, for instance. Nice going Creative, I have no reason to ever use your products again as linux support from other manufacturers now meets my needs far better, and to be honest, now that you have forced me to use other MP3 Players with my OS, I prefer Cowon's products.

Creative -
This Daniel K situation has permanently cost you the business of I and my family, and we have been customers for close to 20 years now. Our very first sound card purchase was a Sound Blaster Pro (despite a cheaper Adlib card available at the time) which was megabucks in terms of cost, and we then began putting them in every other computer we had. Every upgrade as I became older was 100% always reliant on Creative Labs for sound in all varieties of card slots. All in all, I have probably owned 15 different Creative Labs cards, and I had ALWAYS recommended them 100% to everyone. Furthermore, when I build systems for others, I always made sure that a SB card was purchased over on-board.
Now I can say that after the Vista frustrations all this time, and now the Daniek_K deal, I will never, and I truly mean never, purchase a single Creative product for as long as I live. How dare you guys threaten a guy who has been the ONLY ONE who released new drivers, especially for people running Audigy 4's like myself so that I can maintain the ability to use professional external hookups for my music and recording equipment. The fact that you have neglected us has sickened me, but thanks to Daniel_K I had been able to try to "forget" about how HORRIBLE Creative has become now that OpenAL is out. Now that you want to threaten him, I'm done. I am done, forever.
I don't care if this guy owned five lamborghinis and two mansions due to his driver support, I'd rather have him receiving donations than your horrible executives getting another penny by robbing their customers. You people are thieves, and you went from being THE BEST soundcard company ever seen to hands down the worst in the history of hardware providers. I hope deep in my heart that you guys go out of business, and that the executives' failures permanently follow them for the rest of their careers. Creative = SLIME!
Daniel_K - thank you so much for all that you did. You were doing the right thing, despite what Creative wants to say.
