I've been using Creative soundcards since my 286 in 1993, this legacy know ends and i hope creative will go down all the way because of their stupid IP protection, clearly they have no faith in their own products with actions like these! If you regard your product to be superior to others, you don't have to defend IP, defend it on HW only and not SW! I big FU to creative's management and i hope you all go down as hell. Unless ofcourse you reward Daniel_K and let him continue making sw-support for products you don't support anymore. BTW, i have a XFi card which has good vista drivers, but i'll burn it just because of your actions.

I also registered today learning about this from digg.com. I have been a creative product user for over 15 years, and have my own computer repair business here in northern California. I service Chico, Redding, Red bluff, Anderson and the greater areas and have over 500 clients. (including business's ~ 1-10 PC's)
Clients that I order parts and build computers on a weekly to monthly basis. I will no longer purchase creative products personally or recommend or purchase for any of my clients as well. What's funny, is I have sold people creative cards, I have installed them, and installed and setup their drivers, and guess what, I charged them. I profitted from you products, just like Daniel. I also have profitted from all major manufacturs of various computer equipment and software, because I know how to use them and repair problems associated with them. Take windows for instance. I repair problems with windows and the like and I profit from it multiple times a day.
You see, I charge for my time. Sometimes, people even tip me. Now of course, comparing service repairs to a driver package is like comparing apples to oranges. But it's the principle of the thing. It takes time for me to service, as it takes time for someone to program. Daniel_K should get compensation and asking for donations for this compensation is not too much to ask.

Original post should read:

Since it does not, my next computer build near the end of spring will not include anything made by Creative. Message Edited by FlawlesStyle on 03-29-2008 08:44 PM

Normally, I don't care to make a post in these types of threads, and especially not if I have to create an account to post a single post and will likely not return again. I've used Creative products since the Sound Blaster Live! card was cutting edge, going up through Audigy and now my Audigy 2. I've never had any show-stopping issues with my purchases, but often had small ones that I had to figure out or live with. Case in point, Audigy 1's sound quality and the fact that to this day the Audigy 2 software suite still takes voodoo to install correctly and stay function under XP. Of course, none of it worked under Vista anyway. Dale-CL, I would like to thank you for singlehandedly being the force that pulled the wool out from in front of my eyes. Reading through other major online publications that have picked up this story I have found a multitude of people who suggest products from your competitors that work well under Vista. It is obvious that eith you yourself, Creative, or both simply don't care that your customers get the full use out of your products, but rather you would force the purchasing of a new one every year to try and milk as much money out of us as possible. Daniel_K maybe have been enabling unintended functionality on hardware, but not only was he simply enabling the functionality that existed under Windows XP in the first place but he was also helping your customers get more use and enjoyment out of your products. Regardless, I'm done with Creative products at this point, and I honestly don't care what direction this issue takes. There are simply other companies out there with better products, not to mention have at least a foggy idea of what their customers want.

I just thought I'd throw my opinion in here. I've been using Creative soundcards for a long time. I bought the Audigy Platinum, Audigy 2 ZS and now use an X-Fi. This is completely dispicable. Not only have you mis-advertised your products as Vista ready, you are now preventing one of the only people capable to give customers a working solution a way to keep using your products. I will never, ever buy a Creative product again. Good job being completely retarded.

I hope the post by Dale-CL is the opinion of a single employee, so the company can make this right soon. Otherwise this "confession" could be very damaging to Creative Labs (which I'm sure is already the case regardless). In a time where things like this can make the front page of sites like Digg in no-time (and reach more wide-spread tech and news sites soon thereafter), statements like these are absolutely things companies should shy away from. I have been a long-time Creative Labs customer (15+ years), and have made many people customers of them as well. I currently own 3 creative sound cards, 2 Creative MP3 players, 1 set of speakers and have just in the last year built 3 other PC's with Creative sound cards. I will allow Creative some time to make this right. If the company backs this statement however, and does not allow the drivers people want (and need!) for Vista, consider me a member of the "no-more-Creative" crowd as well.
