Just wanted to add my 2 cents in....

(im one of the peeps who registered just to add to the hubub)

I work for bestbuy and have people comming to me recomending various PC components for their next build. Bestbuy by far as a **bleep** selevtion of pc COMPONENTS however what they have isnt terribly bad. Sales are usually cheaper then Newegg and other sites...

Anywho just wanted to mention i will no longer be recomending and of creative products to customers. Cool thing is, is that the demographic for my area reflectsthe stores inventory for PC parts. Meaning people around the store like to build PC's so we are sure to keep whats on our website in stock in store. Lets see how long i can keep the inventory for all creative products full (aka not sell any). Not a big hit but im gonna try to do my part.

As for my personally ive got a SoundBlaster X-FI ExtremeMusic which works like ass in vista. I belive the reason is vista has no HAL and therefor the drivers creative has made are complete ass. Sound becomes distorted after about 15 mins. Many users complain of the same thing. Also have tried the card on a different PC with different speakers. Same thing. Its the drivers. In XP though it works fantasticly.

Good job Creative.

Also remember people, Digg it! (thats where i found this :smileytongue:)

How about offering Daniel_K a job and fixing the support for your hardware's drivers?

Saw this on Digg

I find this subject interesting because I was just about to buy a new sound card and have used Creative in the past. My personal experiences with their customer service and support have been dismal and this confirms my suspicions.

As for the actual events in question. Do the cards that everyone own actually say on the packaging that they are supported and work with Windows Vista? If so then why not start a class action lawsuit for mis-advertising? A similar case was recently brought up against Activision for only providing Mono sound in Guitar Hero III on the Wii when promising Stereo sound on the packaging. The lawsuit prompted Activision to start a program to return any discs of people dissatisfied, no questions asked. Just a thought. If it isn't listed on the packaging then you guys are kind of out of luck.. except for that whole attorney general thing, but proving that they intentionally cripple their products would be difficult especially in court.

Dear Digg Users:

Creative does not own everything that their driver includes, that's why they license the technology from others. Therefore, they cannot support hacking because they would be sued for breaking agreements.

Just because they are competing with Apple does not make them inherently evil. But we'll see when their new Touch competitor comes out just how evil and terrible they actually are, right?

First and last post from me.

I saw this on Digg, Slashdot and others. Not surprised that Creative is making a hash of this. The last thing I bought from you clowns was the AWE64 kit. What the hell was the problem with releasing the drivers for the IR interface on that CDROM drive? Now I understand. It's your freakin' IP, that's what it is.

Unlike others, I kept to my promise of never buying anymore Creative gear and I'll now have even more current ammo to tell friends and relatives to stay away from you guys.

Registered just to post.

My creative soundcards are now removed from my machine, and donated to a local non-for-profit that asks for peoples hardware. I've been a long time user of your products, but wont buy another. All hope I had held out, that one day your company would pull its head out of its ***, has been dashed.

Unbelievable.

Some fact's...

Creative is a business - shareholders count customers don't!

This discussion will be locked or deleted in it's entirety on Monday.

One more reason to embrace the open source model.

This will go down as one very poor example of public relations.

I'm glad my latest motherboard does not have a creative sound card on it.

If I was a shareholder I'd be asking the board to step down as the share price has dropped an awful lot and I'd have to question their ability to manage the company. Dale_cl would get fired for the way he's handled this. Daniel_K would be employed as lead developer.

This is one of the most ridiculous moves by Creative I've ever heard of.

Right now I have 5 Creative cards:

AWE64 Gold ISA - retired

Live 5.1 (SB0220, Dell OEM)

Audigy2 ZS Platinum

Audigy2 ZS

X-Fi XtremeMusic

I use a mixture of 3rd party drivers and apps so that each card can function at it's best ability...

You should have asked Daniel_K to remove the DDL and donation links and then offer him a job because he's obviously a driver genius compared to the idiots you employ at CL
