Another bugmenot guy...directed here from a thread on www.boards.ie

I have always bought creative products and have gotten a lot of other people to as well.
Even though I though customer support here in Ireland was good, no more will I buy from you.

BugMeNot, eh? What a nice idea!

I have been a loyal Creative customer for years, literally since the very first SoundBlaster card came out. That association is now at an end. When a company knowingly lies to its customers about compatibility simply to sell more product; when they release drivers that are apparently coded with the intent to disable functions that would otherwise be available; when they choose belligerence over honesty it's time for them to go by the wayside.

I am actively encouraging all vendors and distributors to discontinue the sale of Creative products. I also encourage anyone who currently uses such a product to discard it and replace it with something from a reputable manufacturer. The only language Creative Labs seems to understand is profit. Let them be without, and maybe they'll begin to understand loyalty to customers.

Wow Creative, if you're going to threaten a guy for making great third party drivers you can't make yourselves, you have lost me as a customer... I just tore your product out of one of my boxes and tossed it in the trash, yes the trash because I won't let some other poor **bleep** support your company.

Seriously Creative, you're in for a backlash if you don't throw up some drivers that work on our machines, bit to late for me though I'm done with you lot.

A few suggestions for those posting their dissatisfaction over Creative's handling of this mess:

 • Check some of the other threads in the forums. Others are starting new threads.
 • Google "Creative sued" to see just how loudly the pot is calling the kettle black with regards to IP/copyright infringement.
Sadly, Creative's alleged infringement had nothing to do with helping out strangers with driver problems, it had far more to do with trying to make cold, hard cash off a competitors idea.

Registered just to write down my opinion about this matter. Redirected by www.tweakers.net

I've been using Creative products in every computer setup I made for myself and other since I got my first Pentium II. Lately I upgraded my PC to find out that my Audigy 2 was not working like it should on Vista. Thanks to Creative it'll be like this for eternity, thus leaving me only with the option to buy a new sound card. My first non Creative sound card in about 8 years! Hopefully to be followed by many other good non Creative sound cards in every computer setup that I'll create.

I learned that the 'product experience' goes further than the buying process: it includes service and maintenance up to the retirement of the product. Maybe the PR should go to university again...

Another bugmenot

Thank god I never made the switch to Vista, otherwise, my perfectly fine Live!5.1 Platinum would stop working! And to think I gave your company hundreds of dollars back in the DOS days to get my "multimedia" experience with a CD-ROM and soundcard to play the 7th Guest.

I even thought it was garbage when Oozic would only work on more expensive cards than my own.

Enough is enough. There are other options. You have lost a customer. A customer that was looking into a new Soundblaster for a new system. HA!

I'm just another in a long line who's registered only to say "Goodbye" to Creative and their products.

We've had a good run Creative, since before the SB16 days, but this is just wrong. Intentionally crippling your cards is wrong, false advertising is wrong, and now you've gone out of your way to threaten someone who is trying to help YOUR customers use YOUR (already bought and paid for) crippled products. Correcting this issue on your own is a task you have apparently ignored since you think it benefits you to manipulate your customers in this manner.

Yes, you are perfectly within your legal rights, but apparently, you are also evil. This is not the way to protect your assets in this day and age. If you think Daniel_K was COSTING you money, I have a feeling you're about to be corrected.

I will no longer be purchasing your products for my home or business, nor recommending them to others in the future.

I'm lost for words.

People after an alterntive audio card for Vista may want to consider looking towards a certain well known motherboard manufacturer. :smileywink:
