I feel Creative saw this as an opertunity to con the consumer into believing that by adopting the Windows Vista operating system, they would be required the purchase new Creative hardware to once again be in a position to take advantage of Creatives technology and intellectual property, a blatent missuse of Creatives market position and extremely bad business practice. Creative has taken their customer base for idiots plain and simple, unfortunately for you, we're not, and incase you were any doubt of that, take a look at your finances. Its only going to get worse.

I think that pretty much sums it up to be honest, Creative dont want the problems in Vista fixing so they can bring out a new XFI II card that is fully compatable with Vista, but at the end of the day someone like Daniel can provide a solution that Creative dont want to provide.

Creative has dont some pretty shady things especially when it came to Windows Vista and Support. There is alot of software they advertise works in vista which does not. Between people like Daniel_K and other to HELP creative see thier blunders and short-comings it is clear and obvious to me that MANY of us are going to be jumping ship and going with other Sound Card manufacturers. I hear ASUS has a GREAT card out that fully complies with Windows Vista, something we all cannot say about Creative's hardware/software. I guess they best advise for those out there is to make your voice hear by refusing to pay for horrible software support.

No more 'Creative' products for me, not even 'indirect' products like Auzentech cards using Creative chips.

I've been a loyal user of Creative products for many years, my first sound card was a Creative back in the day, installed in my first PC, IBM Aptiva 486 50 MHz), but this decision is too much!

I have been somewhat disappointed with the support (the lack of it) on software. Bloated, bugged and very little effort put in to it, and now you stop the guy that does provide a FREE alternative, that may hurt you by doing what you should have done in the first place, support the older (and new) products, yes, the ones that have placed you in the position you have today.. those same products and people using them...

If you had done your job properly this guy would not have to do it for you.

I agree that you should protect your technology and IP, but not at the cost stopping initiatives like this.

You have a lot to learn about openness. The time that many companies have chosen to open their products through the means of SDKs and even source code, and have proven to be very successful, you do nothing and hinder the efforts of the community to “do it themselves”.

I am not disputing that you have the right to do this Creative, you do, but this is just wrong.

Goodbye.

The news about Creative threatening Daniel_K have moved into other forums as well...This is Bad for Creative.

I for once would either propose to Creative that they consider hiring the guy ( Its 1 guy people i doubt that would cost you that much ) or they allow him to continue practising his magic. If not it is clear that users around the world may turn into non-Creative solutions.

Daniel_K made the only drivers for Audigy 1 and 2 that worked perfectly fine in Vista. Also, the XP drivers are very, very good, and include all the necessary utilities, without having to install anything else.It works without a hitch.

Creative should watch those accusations because I've seen nowhere, but absolutely NOWHERE where in the drivers it says MADE BY DANIEL_K or applications are not signed to appear like signed by DANIEL_K,so he is NOT AT ALL violating the Copyright and Trademark.

He made little alterations to the drivers to work perfectly in Vista, but they still appear to be made by Creative and NOTHING else.

I really do not know what is the problem with you Creative reps?

Be sure that without this,or others like this developers, freelancers that developed such wonderful drivers, that you only 'tried' to make, you will LOSE a lot of customers, but not only you, also the others that implemented sound cards with the same chip like Auzentech.

Actually by even altering the drivers he is in copyright violation.

Wow,very interesting, now anyone that wants to make a software better or driver better and succeeds,he cannot because he violates the Copyright. In this manner,we won't reach anywhere from point 1.

Creative should make the drivers and apps open source,or lose all their customers.

Well if you see it from Creatives side they are right. Takes them years and years to develop music chips and drivers-apps not to mention loads of money and out of the blue someone comes in alters them and even allows people to send him money for what he did which in comparison to what Creative has done is a drop in the Ocean. So in one perspective they are right to be pissed at Daniel_K.

On the other hand since their programmers cant make their software work correctly then they should be on the lookout for better people to do the job and when someone steps up and does it i think they should absorb him into their work force.

Fine, creative does not support older products and wants me to buy newer one. But how could I buy any creative product, if I know for sure that in some short time it will stop working because of service packs, system upgrades, whatsoever??? In this case I am forced to look for another vendor who provides support for its products regardless of system changes. Have marketing guys at Creative ever thought about such decisions and consequences? That Creative programmers do not want to think I have already noticed.
