Also using bugmenot. I was about to buy a new creative sound card for my brand new 5.1 Creative Aspire T5100's. But I think I will be any more. I don't even use Vista, but bullying someone who is trying to provide a service, in return for optional donations for doing something which should be resting on your shoulders, with your petty legal banter is awful.

Add http://core.tweakers.net/nieuws/52678/creative-in-geweer-tegen-alternatieve-vista-drivers.html as well (serving +500.000 pageviews a day with 250.000 users, they're properly screwed from The Netherlands too..) Should we maintain a list of all links backtracking to this forum post? Might give Creative an indication of how bad this is, maybe they'll freshen up and go develop to prevent people from turning their backs on them.

i registered just for this single comment, i am currently looking for a nice external sound card for my laptop and did have my eyes set on an audigy (notice the past tense?) unfortunately after reading this i shall be getting a M audio card. Too bad that creative aren't more supportive of someone providing a service that they are too lazy to do themselves, but the drop in customers should prove the motivation needed to pull thier fingers out

Gratz Creativ, this thread now has a sky-high ranking at stumpleupon too. Taking on the entire internet comunity are we? Let me know how that goes. As far as I'm concerned, if creativ promised something, and didn't keep it, they broke the deal, thus, we have no deal and no deal = no copyright violation. Use time and money on product development and customersupport instead of prosecuting the people you need the most, the loyal fans. There's other companys out there who wants our money just as much as Creativ, never forget that. If they ever make a "I will never buy another Creativ product again"-list, I will be first in line to sign.

I signed up, just to say: Creative Labs you guys just messed up BIG time (yeh, I get that LEGALLY you're in the right, but people aren't Law-Bots... we're humans and looks like you just pissed a lot of us off). I'm not currently a Creative Labs customer, but would've been in the very near future... now I definitely wont touch a Creative Labs product. I know it doesn't compare to Digg and Slashdot, but I blogged this (http://www.hypn.za.net/blog/2008/03/30/creative-labs-prevent-user-from-fixing-their-audio-drivers/) and posted on Facebook profile - just doing my bit to spread the news. So long Creative Labs... enjoy picking up the pieces.
P.S. HelloPeter anyone? EDIT: I see someone a few posts down said "the word is spreading also in Turkey"... well I'm in South Africa, and going to be making sure the same happens here... Message Edited by hypn on 03-29-2008 04:35 PM

I am another customer that has used BugMeNot in order to not register. Let me say that before this, I've enjoyed Creative products, having had a Zen Xtra and surround sound speakers. Having just got a new PC, I have been considering getting a Creative Soundcard in order to replace the onboard sound. However, I must say that the way you have treated Daniel_K is disgraceful, and a shining example of how to lose customers and fail at running a business. Your products should work with Vista, and the fact that they don't is unacceptable. Daniel_K should be thanked by you, not demonised, and his work incorporated into your drivers. Mr O'Shaughnessy, stop being a tool and realise that your customers and potential customers expect better. As I'm sure you are aware, the free market means that we will look elsewhere for other products. Have fun explaining this situation to your superiors on Monday or whenever you next have a meeting. I'm sure they'll be fascinated by your PR skills, and ability to alienate customers. As of now, add another person to the list of those that will no longer purchase Creative products unless you sort out this situation. I refuse to pay for sub-standard products, or line the pockets of companies and executives that fail to respect their customers.
